Bentley is known for its luxury cars so when it announced that it would be bringing out an SUV, it got people talking. The Bentley Bentayga, on which we are going to focus today, has made its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle was met with an extremely positive response, which only further increased the hype.
Before the Bentley Bentayga appeared in its final form, the concept car on which it is based on appeared at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The concept version, Bentley EXP 9 F, sported a slightly more unique styling, which didn’t go down well by the critics. One of the first things the brand decided to when it announced that the SUV would be going into production was redesign the car to give it a more conventional look.
The new Bentley Bentayga will be the first vehicle to feature the brands very own twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine capable of producing 600hp (608 PS; 447 kW). With a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h), the Bentayga is quite powerful.
Looking at the production version of the Bentayga, you can definitely tell, which brand is responsible for the car. It features Bentley’s familiar aesthetic with a twist, which works very well. The production Bentayga definitely is an improvement over the concept, which although didn’t look bad, lacked the familiarity that people expect from the brand.
If you are looking for an extremely luxurious car, the Bentayga will definitely meet your needs however it could be a little too extravagant for some. Luxury plays a huge role on Bentley’s card, but it’s also very important for a car to offer a hassle-free driving experience.
Overall, although Bentley took on the SUV market, it didn’t lose any of its character. The Bentayga is a great vehicle for people looking to treat themselves to a completely unique driving experience however it’s extremely high price tag will definitely put the majority of people off.
