The vehicle that we are going to talk about is the 2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible. Rolls-Royce doesn’t really need an introducing. It has been around for a very long time and it remains one of the most luxurious brands currently on the planet. Earlier this week, Rolls-Royce has announced that the current generation of Phantom will be discontinued this year, however we’re not here to talk about the Phantom today.
Announced at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show, the Dawn is 2-door 4-seat convertible that’s going to sit alongside the Wraith coupe in the brand’s line-up.
The soft-top convertible looks as elegant and luxurious as the brands other models, which is going to appeal to long-time fans of the brand. Does it bring anything new to the table desing-wise? Perhaps not, however it definitely has the Rolls-Royce aesthetic that we’re all so familiar with at this point. The fact that the car is a convertible, definitely gives it a little more character, whether that’s enough to make the vehicle a success remains to be seen.
According to reports the roof of the Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible will take around 21 seconds to fully retract at speeds of up to 30 mph.
The Dawn comes with a twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine, the same one as the one featured on the Ghost. It capable of producing 563bhp at 5250rpm and has a limited top speed of 155 mph.
The level of luxury that the Dawn offers definitely lives up to the Rolls-Royce brand. Having produced a great number of cars over the years, the brand has managed to build a reputation for itself, a reputation that it continuously has to live up to. People expect a certain level of luxury from the brand’s vehicles, and if that’s what you’re after, the Dawn will definitely satisfy you.
It’s an extremely luxurious convertible that looks great. Despite not introducing anything new or innovative, the car is likely going to appeal to fans of the brand and previous customers.
The vehicle will reportedly cost a staggering £250,000, which let’s be honest doesn’t come as a surprise as it’s Rolls-Royce we’re talking about.
If you have the money and you’re looking for something luxurious and slightly extravagant, the Dawn will definitely do the job. If you are looking for something slightly less extravagant, you should probably look elsewhere.
